Parent: Pool Maintenance

The brushes live on the wall behind all the toys.

Quick brush (weekly)

This is what we ask sitters to do. Covers the waterline and the one sunshelf.

  1. Waterline: Horizontal side-to-side swishing motion at the waterline against the blue tile, going all the way around the pool. Targets the dirty ring that forms — like the ring inside a bathtub.
  2. Sunshelf: Brush the one sunshelf. If dust comes loose, brush it off. If nothing moves, leave it alone — it may be staining, not dirt.

What “dirty” looks like: light dust, not chunks of dirt. Like sweeping a dusty floor.

Full brush (about monthly)

Z does this one. Everything in the quick brush, plus:

  1. Walls: Brush vertically downward starting from just under the coping, pushing all the way down the wall to the floor. Going around the whole pool. Clears little debris and dust that algae could hold onto.
  2. Floor: Brush the floor as best as possible.
  3. Stairs: Brush the stairs.

Basically a full brushing — the full service of the pool.
