What to look for

Water should sit at the middle of the second tile from the top. There should never be two full tiles exposed — that’s the do-not-cross floor. If it’s getting close to the bottom of the second tile, top it up before it gets there.

Procedure

  1. Look: Stand at the edge and check the water line against the tile.
  2. Top up: If it’s low, use the garden hose run down from the house (usually already by the pool). Fill to about the top of the second tile. A little higher is okay — but don’t fill all the way to the middle of the top tile.
