Tasks

• Water the plants.
• Check for the water leak.
• Do a rough house walkthrough every few days.

Water leak check

Down the basement stairs, into the utility room at the bottom, take a left. Standing in the doorway looking in, the far right corner has a big cylinder — that’s the hot water heater. Look at the floor around it. It should be dry — it always has been — but it’s a keep-an-eye-on item.

• Any wetness at all → tell Z.
• Active water coming out of the heater or a pipe → shut off the main water valve immediately.

The shutoff valve is just to your right when you’re facing the water heater. It’s a handle you rotate (about 90–180°).

House walkthrough

Walk both upstairs and downstairs. Confirm windows and doors are properly closed and in good shape (not broken). Just a general “everything looks normal” check while someone’s around the house.
