Recurring pool care tasks for the sitter while we’re away. Test/correction procedures live in pool-maintenance/README.md — one source of truth for the actual steps.
Tasks
- Clean the skimmer basket — daily or every other day.
- Check pH twice a week while you’re staying and add muriatic acid if it’s high.
- Check chlorine twice a week while you’re staying.
- Run pool robot (Splashy) once or twice a week. More if you want it cleaner, not a huge deal.
- Brush the pool — once or twice while you’re staying.
How to do each task
Brush the pool
Full procedure (waterline and sunshelf) is in pool-maintenance/brushing.md . Quick brush once a week.
Clean the skimmer basket
Full procedure (where the skimmer is, how to open it, emptying) is in pool-maintenance/skimmer-basket.md . Daily or every other day.
Check pH and correct if needed
Full procedure (test steps, color reading, muriatic acid amounts, safety notes) is in pool-maintenance/ph.md . Test kit (Taylor K-2005) lives by the pool.
Check chlorine
Full procedure (fill, powder, count the drops, what the number means) is in pool-maintenance/chlorine.md . 3 or more drops is good; 2 or below, let me know.
Run Splashy
Full procedure (where Splashy lives, dropping it in, starting it, pulling it out) is in pool-maintenance/splashy.md . Once or twice a week; more if you want it cleaner. See also house-guide for general operation notes.
If something looks wrong
Text/call me. I’d rather field too many texts/calls than have a funky situation happen.
